My family are Indian and whilst I was born over here all my aunties, uncles and cousins are all over in BalramPur. They live on the Lucknow. My mother is out there visiting her family at the moment.

I was frantic yesterday morning when I heard that the epicentre was in the exact area where my family live. I tried to ring my mum but couldn’t get through, the communications were down. Villages have been wiped out, landslides have blocked roads and the death tolls has risen to 1000’s. I’ve been to UP at this time of year and as winter is drawing closer it will get very, very cold. Rescue is going to be very, very difficult, people and supplies will have to be lifted in and out via helicopters.

I was told that my mum is he OK via a relative, but I have not managed to talk to her, I don’t know what condition she is in and whether other people in her family are ok. She might be fine physically but she’ll be destroyed emotionally. 30,000 people have been reported to have died in the disaster. This is a national tradegy for.....

The people of UP have been in a war torn state for over 50 years and they are very poor. They live simple lives and have simple expectations. This disaster will have destroyed their lives.

Can I ask you, that if you do want to help, please give a dontaion toHatim Educational Information centre or Save the Children, because they really do make a difference to people’s lives.
